Michael "The Lie Detector Guy" Martin has been a forensic psychophysiologist (polygraph examiner) since the 1980's and has completed over 8,000 examinations of all types. He has appeared over 350 times on national television as a polygraph expert since 1987. Some of these shows include WNBC News, Sci-Fi Channel's Proof Positive, Discovery Channel's Mythbusters, Sally Jessy Raphael, Ricki Lake, Maury Povich, 20/20, 48 Hours, Dr. Joy Browne, Forgive or Forget, Morton Downey Jr., Richard Bey, and many many more. Martin holds memberships in the American Polygraph Association, the Pennsylvania Polygraph Examiner's Association, the Maryland Polygraph Association, the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, the America Society for Testing and Materials, the Better Business Bureau, and he is certified as a Post-Conviction Sex Offender Examiner. Martin has also been certified as a court-approved polygraph expert and is approved to provide testing for the U.S. Government.

Martin has received training at the New York School of Lie Detection, the Maryland Institute of Criminal Justice, Lion Investigation Academy, Rider University, and holds an honorary Doctor in Psychology. This honorary title is not intended to convey or imply that Martin is a physician, psychologist or psychiatrist.
